TV tonight: 'Bachelor,' 'Biggest Loser,' 'Castle'
Posted January 6, 2013
The Bachelor/The Biggest Loser
ABC/NBC, 8 ET/PT
Two reality-ish contests return for a head-to-head competition, The Biggest Loser on NBC and The Bachelor on ABC. One is about losing weight, the other is about finding love - though considering the track record of the ABC series, you may wonder whether, for accuracy's sake, it should be using the NBC's show's title.
The Mob Doctor
Fox, 9 ET/PT
Speaking of losers. Buried under the ABC and NBC reality returns and ESPN's airing of the BCS National Championship game you'll find the series finale of one of fall's worst shows, Fox's Mob Doctor. Obviously, if you haven't been watching the show, there's no reason to jump in now, but Mob did have its fans, and the rest of us should not begrudge them the chance to see the show end rather than just stop. It's a series Fox probably never should have aired in the first place - but having decided to air it, Fox gets some credit for allowing it to play out to some sort of finale.
ABC, 10 ET/PT
If you're curious, you could check out NBC's new crime drama Deception (reviewed elsewhere), but having your curiosity satisfied will be your only reward. If, however, what you want is a competent hour of network entertainment, you'd be better off with Castle, which finds Castle dealing with murder while facing a dangerous domestic tangle: his ex-wife and his new girlfriend, Beckett, are both staying at his loft.
