Barry Manilow delays Broadway opening
Posted January 24, 2013
"It turns out the only thing worse than hell and high water is bronchitis." So read the latest statement from the publicity team representing Manilow On Broadway, which on Thursday announced that Barry Manilow's new concert series will not open Thursday, as originally planned.
The singer had canceled Tuesday and Wednesday night previews, on doctor's orders, but hoped to go on with the opening show (and the after-party). But the doctor decided he's not yet ready, according to the release; and so performances planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights have been rescheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1 and 2.
"Barry is deeply sorry to disappoint his fans and is doing everything he can to ensure a speedy recovery," the statement said. Manilow is - for now - expected to resume performances Tuesday.
