Lumineers, Vampire Weekend to light up Firefly fest
Posted February 15, 2013
For last year's inaugural run of the Firefly Music Festival, The Killers, Jack White and the Black Keys were the headliners. The three-day event featured fancy beer tents, a wine garden, "glamping" grounds and hot-air balloon rides.
This year, organizers have stated that The Lumineers and Vampire Weekend will take the stage during the festival's June 21-23 run in Dover, Del. Beer and wine are sure bets, too.
The Lumineers were up for two Grammys this year for their self-titled debut album -- best new artist and best Americana album. Although the Denver trio left empty-handed, hit Ho Hey, which the group performed on the awards show, sold 147,000 downloads, up 25%, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Vampire Weekend claimed indie cred with its 2008 debut album and became mainstream stars with sophomore album Contra (2010). The group has taken its time with the third, Modern Vampires of the City, but plans on releasing that one this year, which probably explains why the band is hitting the summer festival circuit. The album's release date, May 7, was announced in an obscure classified ad in The New York Times.
The festival's full lineup will be released Tuesday, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, let's play a game. What's your fantasy fest lineup?
